Why does the Ubuntu installer not detect the hard … I am trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit on it but the installer does not recognize/detect/see the hard drive. When I reach the Installation type step, the panel which is supposed to show devices and partitions looks empty. sudo fdisk -l shows only /dev/sda1, the USB drive from which I am running the installation. Windows 10 does not detect CD drive. My computer was running perfectly under windows 10 version 1803. Then it updated itself to 1809 and since that upgrade it does not recognize the CD drive. I rolled back to 1803 but now it still does not detect the CD drive. (It did before the 1809 upgrade) The sata cd drive is fine.
